Shooting Shibari Bondage in the Studio

The workshop will concentrate on use of studio lighting techniques as applied to photographing shibari sessions. All skill levels will benefit from attendance. Basic techniques will be covered, and advanced tips and techniques provided for those more experienced in photography. Subjects to be covered include, lighting ratios, light modifiers, and how to use light to emphasize form and line. The studio is equipped with Speedotron strobes and Chimera Super Pro softboxes.

Special guest Chris Williams (www.MentalAperture.com/) will be our rigger for the day, our models will be Shiva (www.ShivaKitty.com) and Delilah Doom (MM portfolio). Chris Williams was recently recognized for his bondage photography as the Dark Odessey Winter Fire 2010 Featured Artist. His rigging is regularly featured in live performances at Jaded and other local fetish events. Chris teaches rope at Bound in Boston and Boston Rope Group, and is the originator of the Rope Jumpstart workshop series.

Students must bring a digital or film camera, with a flash hot shoe (preferred). There will be a Pocket Wizard radio remote control for strobes, as well as a p.c. cord, if needed (most medium format cameras).

Using these tools, Lanes will discuss classic lighting styles. The remainder of the workshop will be spent shooting. Lanes will be available for questions, and one-on-one interaction with workshop attendants.

Class size is currently limited to 10 students; each student will have plenty of individual instruction, and shooting time.
